Granite & Natural Stone Countertops

Revered for its durability and natural beauty

Stone is the choice of many designers, adding character and warmth to any room. Sourced from the earth, stone is made from a number of minerals, typically including 20% quartz. All stone has natural variations in colour, veining and speckling for a one-of-a-kind surface. It’s naturally resistant to heat and water and, with our 25-year sealant and minimal care, it can stand the test of time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does natural stone undergo a manufacturing process?

After sourcing stone from the earth, it typically undergoes a manufacturing process to strengthen the material, which includes filling fissures and pits with resin.

Should I be concerned if my stone countertop has fissures or pits?

Fissures and pits are a natural feature of stone. They are typically filled with resin during the manufacturing process, but can add character to a countertop.

Do stone countertops scratch, chip or crack?

Natural stone is durable, but can scratch, chip or crack without care – but can be repaired.

How do I know if my sealant is wearing off?

You can test the sealant’s effectiveness by dropping a bead of water on your countertop. After a few minutes, wipe it away; if the spot is now darker, your surface is absorbing the water and your sealant should be re-applied.

Can natural stone be used for surfaces other than countertops?

Natural stone is available in varying thicknesses, from two to three centimeters, for ultimate versatility, including wall applications like showers, fireplaces and more. The most common and standard slab size is 120”x 55” with a usable surface of 119”x 54”.

Can I see my stone slab before it’s fabricated?

Yes! We recommend you view your stone slab before fabrication. Because stone is sourced from the earth, there are natural variations, including fissures and pits, that vary from slab to slab. Ask us to book a slab viewing for you when you give the "go ahead".

Care, Maintenance and Warranty

Clean your natural stone countertops with water and mild soap daily.

Water and soap go a long way when it comes to cleaning countertertops. However, depending on the wear and tear of the stone, as well as the type of stone (in this case, granite), a sealant may need to be re-applied every few years to protect its porosity and lustre.

Place a hot pad or trivet under hot pot and pans.

Stone is heat resistant, but can be damaged with quick changes in temperature.

Use a cutting board under knives.

Stone is scratch resistant, but cutting on stone can dull or damage your knives.

Clean up spills immediately.

Coffee, tea and juices can etch or stain stone if spills aren’t cleaned up immediately.

Use mild cleaners and sponges.

Abrasive cleaners can damage stone. Use mild cleaners and non-scratch sponges.fo.
